It appears Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show was a hit, proven already perhaps by his sending attorney Scott Hoy’s commercials viral last year and proving he can achieve the ratings NBC want for the lively host, who has taken over from Jay Leno.
Fallon’s Nielsen ratings were 11.3 million on Monday evening, but don’t take account of those who watch the show via online channels like YouTube and Hulu.
For 20 years, Sioux Falls attorney Scott Hoy has written his own television commercials; but, in those two decades, he never has had the reaction he’s experienced to his latest spot which went viral. It’s mocked on sites as diverse as Real Politics, Ebaums World, thoughtcatalog.com, and Adweek. Social media blew up especailly after late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon featured the commercial in his Thursday night monologue, going so far as to imitate the lawyer’s soft tones. “His name is Scott Hoy, and it’s got to be one of the most confusing commercials I’ve ever seen. I loved it,” Fallon said.

Fallon’s ability to connect was proven in December when he described Sioux Falls lawyer Hoy’s self-written commercials as something he enjoyed, although he failed to understand them.
